Spouses and Partners: A key component in career planning

Career transitions can be tough not just on the individual going through it but also on the family.  Too often individuals want to shelter their spouses and partners from the struggle and frustrations, not realizing their family is also struggling because they feel helpless as they watch their loved one go through tough times in their job or in their transition.

What individuals quickly realize is that making career decisions alone is a tough road.  Approaching career decisions in partnership with their spouse will relieve the burden of carrying the weight of the decision on their own, therefore inviting other suggestions and fresh perspectives.

In a recent podcast interview with David Bruns, http://cultivatingcareers.com/2018/07/11/podcast-interview-david-bruns/

he talks about the key contribution his spouse made to his career transition when she reminded him of the dream he always wanted to pursue.  Listen to the interview to see what advice she gave and how it played out.
