When the restlessness of a bad job situation or the urgency of a recent job loss grows the first quick fix people turn to is their resume. Too often people dive into creating or updating their resume before they even know what jobs they will be targeting in their search. The first step in any job transition is not forging forward with a new resume it is taking a step back to gain clarity. Clarity comes with assessing your situation and yourself, evaluating options and becoming clearer about the direction of your next career move. Taking the time, or giving yourself the gift of time is not an easy thing for many people to do. It requires slowing down, pausing, listening to your heart and opening yourself up to the indicators that direct your steps during this time.
To help you begin your career plans with clarity I will share these words from Mahatma Gandhi:
In the attitude of silence the soul finds the path in a clearer light, and what is elusive and deceptive resolves itself into crystal clearness. Life is a long and arduous quest after truth and the soul requires inward restfulness to attain its full height.
