How Families Feel the Pain of Job Loss

Over the course of the past few weeks I have had the honor to sit with families of job seekers and hear how the job loss has effected them. They spoke of helplessness in not knowing how to help the job seeker. They spoke of fear in not knowing when the job hunt will end. They spoke of isolation from former friends and colleagues who now don’t know what to say or turn a cold shoulder. They spoke of their own emotional ups and downs in this process. They grapple with what to tell their children.

I have heard their stories and felt their pain and applauded their courage to come out amongst strangers to share their experience. For every person who has lost a job there are 2-3 family members also effected.

Cultivating Careers will continue to support families of job seekers anyway we can even if it is reminding them that this difficult time is temporary and that by approaching these challenges together as a family……they will make it through it – together.
