When we are miserable at work it is often difficult to know why, we just want it to get better. Job dissatisfaction often boils down to 1 of 3 things.
1. Job. When the job we are doing no longer matches our skills and strengths we become frustrated. When we can no longer see how our work contributes to company success we become disengaged.
2. Boss. When expectations aren’t clear, feedback is inconsistant and there is little support from our boss it is difficult to be successful.
3. Company Culture. When it becomes difficult to rally around the company’s mission it could be because it no longer aligns with your values. When employees don’t feel connected to the organization or their coworkers it can feel lonely and alienating.
Misery at work feels terrible, makes for long weeks, sleepless nights and feelings of dread on Monday mornings. Knowing the source is the first step in making a plan to improve the situation. Life is too short to be miserable 40+ hours per week.
