Make the most of your signature line
We all send and receive countless emails every day. For social emails it is just fine to have your first name in the signature line of an email, but I’d encourage you to think more carefully about professional emails – the ones that go out to your professional network. Your signature serves the purpose of telling the reader something about you and how to contact you. Beyond just your name I’d suggest including your phone number and LinkedIn link. In this day of Blackberries you want to make it as easy as possible for the recipient of your email to reach out to you and learn more about you. The easier you can make it for people, the greater the chance they will follow up with you. Though this may sound like a simple tip. I can’t tell you how many times I get an email from someone asking me to call them and they don’t have their phone number in the email or on the signature line.
